8. Types of Articles Accepted by the Journal:

Empirical or Theoretical Research Articles (APA Format)

- Empirical Research Articles

- Length: Between 5,000 and 7,500 words, excluding abstracts and references.

These articles present detailed, original results from completed empirical research, outlining methodologically rigorous and conceptually sound procedures that offer novel contributions to the field.

The structure of the article must include and develop the following sections:

- Abstract: An abstract in Spanish and English (maximum 250 words each) and five keywords in both languages.
- Introduction: This section should include the context of the study and the research objectives. It should also present the main background information on the research topic, reflecting a review of recent literature from the past few years, both within the specific field of study and internationally.
- Method: This section must explicitly include the following subsections: participants (population, sample, inclusion and exclusion criteria, sampling method); design used; procedure; data collection techniques or instruments (including reliability and validity information for psychometric questionnaires); data analysis strategy; ethical considerations related to the study. Each subsection should clearly state and justify the methodological choices, supported by appropriate citations.
- Results: Highlight the study’s most important findings without evaluating them. Results should be presented using figures and/or tables in a logical sequence without redundancy.
- Discussion and Conclusions: Based on the research question and objectives, the results should be integrated with previous findings, highlighting agreements, disagreements, contributions, and limitations. Future research directions and potential applications should be included, where relevant. Avoid making conclusions not supported by the study’s results.
- References (including URLs or DOIs): The article should include at least 20 references, with at least 80% sourced from scientific journals published in the past 10 years.

If the authors used research data (datasets), the corresponding citation and reference should be included (see notes on bibliographic references).

If the study generated a dataset (e.g., interviews, measurements, surveys), authors are encouraged to deposit the data in an open repository and provide the DOI as supplementary material for publication. This complies with Law No. 26.899 on Institutional Digital Open Access Repositories, mandatory for journals in the Core Collection of Argentine Scientific Journals of CONICET.

Some open repositories suggested by the Journal of Psychology include: Zenodo, Figshare, OSF.

- Theoretical Research Articles (Systematic or Narrative Reviews)

Length: Between 4,000 and 7,000 words, excluding abstracts and references.

These articles present documentary research results, analyzing, systematizing, and reporting key findings and research trends from articles published in recognized scientific journals on specific topics. They involve a thorough review of the scientific literature and highlight the primary trends in a specific area. Following the PRISMA guidelines for systematic reviews and meta-analyses is recommended.

Non-systematic narrative reviews are also accepted. In this case, authors must justify why the topic of interest has not been sufficiently addressed in the literature, warranting a non-systematic review.

The structure of the article must include and develop the following sections:

- Abstract: An abstract in Spanish and English (maximum 250 words each) and five keywords in both languages.
- Introduction: This section should present the context of the study and the research objectives. It should also report the primary background information on the research topic.
- Method: Indicate whether a specific review protocol was followed. Include information on search criteria, study selection processes, data collection, and methods for data extraction. Following PRISMA guidelines is recommended.
- Results: For systematic reviews, present search results using the PRISMA flow diagram. The key findings should be expanded upon in the text, and the use of statistical and bibliometric indicators is suggested.
- Discussion and Conclusions: Based on the research objective, summarize the main conclusions, contributions, and limitations of the study. Future research directions should be included.
- References (including URLs or DOIs): The article should include at least 30 references, with at least 80% sourced from recent scientific journals within a defined timeframe (suggested within the last 10 years), explicitly stated in the methodology.

If the authors used research data (datasets), the corresponding citation and reference should be included (see notes on bibliographic references).

- Original Theoretical Essays

These are original works that reflect on (a) significant theories in psychology, psychopedagogy, and/or related disciplines; (b) discuss two or more psychological or psychopedagogical theories from an innovative perspective; or (c) offer original reflections on social phenomena, either through independent theoretical development or based on other authors’ theories. These essays should be organized around theses or hypotheses that guide the exposition. Unlike empirical research articles, theoretical essays do not follow a rigid structure but must include at least the following sections:

- Abstract: An abstract in Spanish and English (maximum 250 words each) and five keywords in both languages.
- Introduction: Briefly describe the main theoretical aspects, theses, or hypotheses guiding the essay.
- Development: Elaborate on the main theses, hypotheses, or arguments, using subtitles as needed (this section’s title may be adapted).
- Conclusions: Summarize the theoretical discussion in light of the original theses or hypotheses, addressing potential limitations and future theoretical research directions.
- References: Include all sources cited in the text, following APA 7th edition style.

- Book Reviews or Critical Reviews

Structure for Book Reviews or Critical Reviews: The goal is to provide a comprehensive overview of the book’s structure, organization, main themes, and conclusions. Including references to other authors who discuss similar topics enriches the review.

Cover Page:
1. Full book title
2. Publisher, place, and date of publication
3. Note any translations and specify the translator’s name if applicable
4. Number of pages
5. Reviewer’s name and institutional affiliation

Body: No more than 5,000 words.

Notes on Bibliographic References

References must follow the APA Style Manual (for any doubts, refer to the APA Publication Manual: https://apastyle.apa.org/). Submissions with references not adhering to APA format will be returned for correction.

- All references cited in the text must appear in the reference list (except personal communications).
- References must be listed alphabetically by the first author’s last name.
- Replace "and" with "&" when citing multiple authors in parentheses.
- Include the DOI at the end of the reference when available. If no DOI is available, provide an official URL for retrieval.
- For works without electronic retrieval options, such as books or book chapters, include the publisher’s name and city.
