Abstract

Ever since its origin, musicology has appealed to diverse graphic solutions regarding the transcription of the musical fact. One of the main dilemmas for the study, the graphication and later decodification of musical experience, is the one that concerns the music's temporary nature. If we carry out a historical panorama of the notation types and the transcription approaches assumed by different researchers when representing graphically the music of oral transmission, we will meet with a wide range that goes from the adoplion of the West notational system -with the use of added signs- to the use of graphic, technological, and mixed methods. The proposal of this arlicle is to show the general maller's slalement; also, to analyze the lacks that the different alternatives presents and, starting from the obtained conclusions, to outline future reflection's projections and analysís.
