Abstract

This article aims to analyse the cognitive aspects involved in the linguistic and musical comprehension, pointing to identify similarities and differences. Starting from the view that both, verbal and musical communication, are lenguages (that is, systems of signs to allow social communication), the analysis differentiates between comprehension and production, between oral-acustic and written communication, and between peripheric-perceptual processes and central cognitive processes. The analysis is focused on the cognitive processes of the linguistic and musical comprehension, without considering the processes related to the production. The lenguage is not only analized in the communicational dimension, but also in the intrapsychological function to construct thinking and sujectivity. At this point, the article emphasizes the unity between cognitive and affective-emocional aspects.
