La crisis sucesoria en las postrimerías del reinado de Alfonso VI de León y Castilla : el partido Borgoñón
Keywords:
Successión of Alfonso VI, Raymond of Burgundy, Henry of Burgundy, Pedro Ansurez, ClunyAbstract
This paper considers certain questions regarding the issue of successión during the reign of Alfonso VI, particularly the serious crisis of 1103, when with no legitimate male descendant, the king chose his only male son, borne by the Muslim princess Zaida, as heir to the throne. This frustrated the hopes of Raymond of Burgundy, who was married to the king’s eldest daughter, as well as (though to a lesser extent) those of Henry of Burgundy, husband of Teresa, another of the king’s daughters, and to an extent those of Hugh of Cluny. Analysis of the high nobility’s attitude to the conflict demonstrates that Pedro Ansurez led the sector of nobility opposed to the king’s plans for his succession.Downloads
