Abstract

The present essay deals with approaches to the subject of ethnic otherness in Roman literary sources. The first part exposes an overview of how the theme has been worked by classics researchers in the last century. Our interest there is to highlight important aspects of the researchers’ contexts that break in their analysis of the Roman past. In the second part of the essay, we aim at presenting some contributions that could be of help at the moment we approach the Roman literary sources.
