An institutional analysis of the presidency organization in Argentina

This article analyzes the organization of the presidency in Argentina from an institutional perspective regardless who is in charge, studies its dynamics in Menem and De la Rúa’s administrations and highlights its relevance in the political process. It examines the presidential studies in Argentina’s academic agenda and explores the difficulties of the president as a unit of analysis. Then it presents an analytical framework to study the presidential strategies and delimits and characterizes the presidential organization. On this basis it comparatively studies the role of the presidential structures in specific political contexts and presents some hypothesis about its behavior in the intra-executive dynamics and its relationship with the official party.Downloads
