Abstract

Ricardo Zorraquín Becú considered that the main reason for the Hipanic-Indian monarchy crisis was the replacement, during the 18 century, of the goals the Austrians had for their American Kingdoms, -consistent with the highest interests of the Church, that is, missional and evangelical- with the new centralized and absolutist regime of the Borbonic dynasty, which meant that the old American Indian Kingdoms were gradually treated as real colonies and subjected to the interest and convenience of the metropolis. To such extent, that Americans felt that they were vassals of Spaniards instead of vassals of the King of Spain.
