Evolución del gasto público en un período de crisis (1889-1895)
Abstract
We studied in this paper the Argentine National Budget, between the years 1889 and 1895, the years after the Baring Panic. We express the expenditure of the National Government in gold, according to the annual price of the paper money, adding the expenditure in gold, to get the percent by item in the different Secretaries of State. The expenditure considered specially the payment of the National Debt, the undertaking of the principal public works as the Buenos Aires Port and the Water Supply and Drainage Works. The Government spent an important quantity of money in the Army and Navy Secretaries, to face a contingent war with Chile, but fortunately the two countries could arrange friendly their limits quarrel in 1902.
