Abstract

The city of Buenos Aires was modifi ed qualitatively and quantitatively from the mid XIX century due to the arrival of immigrants expelled by the European economic transformation. These men and women tried out all type of associate responses in order to incorporate and adapt themselves to the city, and through those experiences they made possible to satisfy their specific needs. The Basque, like any other community, decided to strengthen the ethnic bond, reinforce their identity and enable a faster and less traumatic integration. And in order to accomplish that they developed different activities and published newspapers and magazines. La Vasconia was one of their periodical publications which allowed them to revalue their culture, history and tradition. Thanks to it, they were able to perpetuate their traditions and culture in time.
