A port transcends the activity that takes place in their installations or in their condition of physical and geopolitical node in which essentially economic tasks are developed, since it is also a space that gives meaning to the network of social relations, formal and informal, that are built inside the port and around it. In this sense, this paper analyses the historiographical contributions that have helped to enrich different aspects of Argentine port history; it reflects on the potential of regional and interdisciplinary studies on this subject and proposes lines of action aimed at revaluing, preserving and conserving port heritage.
