Abstract

The dominican fray Reginaldo de Lizarraga, born in Medellin, Spain, around 1539 and died in Asunción, Paraguay in 1609, left us his brief Description of the land of Peru, Tucuman, Rio de la Plata and Chile, account of his travels, in which he recites the seen and lived in the vast regions he wandered. The original manuscript is preserved in the Library of St. Lazarus, Zaragoza. This work has been done with the edition of Académique Union Internationale and the National Academy of History in the year 1999 with prologue by
the academic Edberto Oscar Acevedo, within the “Narrative sources for the history of Río de la Plata and Chile”.
