Abstract

As part of an Argentine pioneering generation, Lucio Gera was one of the main pro- tagonists of the reception of the Second Vatican Council in Latin America, specially at the General Bishops’ Conferences at Medellín and Puebla. This article intends to offer an overview of his contribution emphasizing his relationship with Medellín. The exposition displays the following topics: First, the historical background around Second Vatican Council; second, the Final Documents of Medellín and San Miguel considered from the perspective of People Pastoral; third, the foundational categories of Argentine theology of people; forth, as a final reflection, Lucio Gera’s rol as theologian of Medellín and some perspectives to update the theological legacy of theology of people.
