Medellín 50 Years Later. From Development to Liberation
Keywords:

On January 20, 1968, Pope Paul VI announced the convocation of the Second General Conference of the Latin American Episcopate, and on August 24, 1968 he inaugurated it with a speech delivered at the Cathedral of Bogotá. The work sessions were held at the Medellín Seminary between August 26 and September 6 of that year. Medellín has been considered as “the only example of a continental reception of Vatican II” carried out in a collegial and synodal manner. This article by Rafael Luciani reveals the great theological themes of the Document of Medellín, which account in a prophetic way of speaking theologically. We present here the first part of this collaboration of the Venezuelan theologian, which will be completed in the next issue of our magazine
