Abstract

This is a translation, with notes and an introductory essay, of the "Elucidation on Sacrifices" (Éclaircissement sur les sacrifices) of Joseph de Maistre, published in 1821 as an appendix to the St. Petersburg Dialogues. I made the translation using the manuscript classified as 2J2, the posthumous 1821 edition of Saint-Victor and the 2007 edition prepared by Pierre Glaudes.
