Psalm 106 (107) is a confession of God’s mercy that makes a person’s necessity and anguish vanish when he calls upon Him along the different steps of his way of purification and perfection, and at the same time exhorts to confession. This confession is intimately united to trust in and abandonment to God, which are at the same time the aims of that purification.
There are linguistic markers in Saint Hieronymus’ translation iuxta Hebraeos, such as the structure confiteor + dative, that indicate the sense of this confession.
