HACIA EL GRIEGO TARDÍO EL CASO DE LAS ANTOLOGÍAS Y LA HAGIOGRAFÍA
Keywords:
Leontius of Neapolis, participles, grammar, Byzantine, hagiography.Abstract
This articles aim at studying supplementary particles of the τυγχάνω + participle type in the oeuvre of Leontius of Neapolis (7th c.). Its conclusion will be that infective τυγχάνω is used only as a quasi-synonym of εἰμί, either alone or with other particles. In the confective (or aorist) mood, ὁ τυχών means “said person”. Finally, the fossilised phrase ὡς ἔτυχεν, having lost its aspectual and temporal shades, can be translated as μετὰ τύχης, “by chance”.
