The affective aspects involved in the interior act of faith
Keywords:
Faith habit, Infused virtues, Divine providence, Object of faith, Divine testimonyAbstract
The concept of the habit of faith is addressed from an ontological and psychological perspective. It is highlighted that the existence of infused virtues, such as faith, is required by divine providence to allow man to achieve his ultimate supernatural goal. It is argued that, while our relationship with the natural ultimate goal does not require habits, the supernatural ultimate goal requires the presence of virtues such as faith to develop divine life in the human soul. The nature of the habit of faith and its object, which is the First Truth revealed by God, is explored, not by rational demonstration, but by divine testimony.
