The affective presence according to Thomas Aquinas
Abstract
The text highlights the rich conception of affectivity in Saint Thomas, less studied than other aspects of his anthropology. It focuses on the concept of "affective presence," which is distinguished from cognitive presence and refers to having someone in your heart. It is proposed to explore the doctrine of maturity of Saint Thomas on this topic, mainly from the Summa Theologiae, with an anthropological perspective. Although the importance of the historical-critical approach is recognized, the author focuses on the doctrinal exposition.
