Perspectiva interdisciplinaria en el estudio de los instrumentos de arco en México. Un acercamiento al problema

The mexican musicology began its slow approach to interdiscipline, barely on the last decade of twentieth century, one of the writings that opened this perspective was the book about bow instrumcnts in the New Spain, sponsored by Fondo Nacional para la Cultura y las Artes (Fonca) by E. Roubina published in 19993 This investigation focused on the analisis of iconographic sourccs with mcanings of stablishing thc generic divcrsity of the novohispanic bow instruments and to pinpoint some of the particular ways that distinguish their handcraft and the way that this instruments whcre played at the viceroyalty. In 2001 a new sponsor by the Fonca was given to E. Roubina, this allowed her to continue and enlargc lhc study of the history of bow instruments in Mexico on the century of the Independence. Thc results -unpublished yet- ofthis investigation that was developed in about four years, where obtained from analisis and comparision of several information sources, in which iconography, poetry and newspaper publications from nineteenth-century Mexico have a great importancc becausc at present day there is no specialized bibliography that uses this resources on which the author rclies to stablish the meanings that the bow instruments imprinted on the daily day people live and on the social and artistic simbology of the century of the Independence.
