Abstract

The present work is based on the thesis Rescate y edición de los Maitines a a la Virgen de Guadalupe de 1816 de Francisco Delgado presented by the author to obtain te Master in Music: Musicology by the Veracruzana University. The maitines was a Novohispano form equivalent to the opera in Naples. Maitines Marianos, has a strong tradition within this period of the Mexican music, which it includes authors like Ignacio de Jerusalem and Antonio Juanas. This writing raises one biographical sketch of the composer, as well as a contextual reference based on the situation of the chapel in the year of its composition and the importance of the maitines. It thus makes a reference to tile execution and the reasons that took to the accomplishment to this work in the year of their interpretation.
