In Santiago de Compostela, there were three institutions that stood out in the field of music education in the second half of the 19th century: the Capilla de Música de la Catedral, the Colegio de Sordomudos y de Ciegos and the music school of the Real Sociedad Económica de Amigos del País. The present article intends, through historical musicology, to make a brief tour of the semblance of these institutions during the second half of the 19th century. We use the documents of the following archives: Catedral, Histórico Universitario and the Real Sociedad Económica de Amigos del País, as well as regional press, articles, books, monographs and doctoral theses. Based on these sources, we will create the musical framework of these Galician institutions.
