Abstract

María Rosa Farcy de Montal (1876-1958) was a singer, pedagogue, composer, conductor, and cultural manageress. Despite having had an important career in all these areas, her story was forgotten. This research set out two objectives: position María Rosa Farcy de Montal in the place she deserves in the history of Argentine music and reflect on why musical historiography cast her into the shadows. To this effect, I interviewed both, former students and relatives of María Rosa, and collected information in newspapers of her times as well as in the private family archives.
