Abstract

In 2016, the Baker University’s Music Department, located in the city of Baldwin,
Kansas, USA, invited me as a resident artist, and they commissioned me to write a
tango for Symphonic Band and to perform other academic activities related to the
Buenos Aires´s music. The work entailed certain challenges: a strange instrumental
group for the genre and the decision of certain written questions, above all, with
respect to the modes of execution of the tango that are not regulated. I wanted to
achieve a sonority close to tango, especially in the rhythmic and expressive aspects. I
did an arrangement of my own tango: Nunca más (vendas en los ojos). The activities
included another concerts, lectures and master classes. The Ministry of Relations and
Worship of the Argentina declared Activities of High Cultural and Artistic interest.
