Resumen

A partir de una lectura de Fan, the Story of a Young Girl’s Life (1892) que apunta a reponer un vacío de la crítica especializada, pretendemos extender líneas de indagación que exploren las razones del supuesto fracaso de la obra y del abandono de W.H. Hudson de ese formato de escritura (la folletinesca three-volume novel), las proyecciones identitarias hudsonianas en la obra, la representación literaria del espacio urbano y, finalmente, la relación del autor con las poéticas de George Gissing y Thomas Hardy, y sus reposiciones de la tradición del realismo dickensiano.
